Join Norfolk EFF – Protecting Water for Norfolk’s Food & Farming Future

At Norfolk EFF, we’re committed to securing sustainable water supplies for Norfolk’s agriculture and the wider environment.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we support the county’s food and farming sector in accessing and managing water responsibly.

Together, our members hold licences to abstract nearly 17 million cubic metres of water each year – and we’re here to ensure that continues in a sustainable, cost-effective, and collaborative way.

Why Join Norfolk EFF?

Membership connects you with a network of water abstractors across Norfolk’s food and farming sector, providing a platform to work together on protecting water access, improving drought resilience, and leading evidence-based planning.

By pooling expertise and resources, our members achieve more than any single organisation could alone – and keep costs manageable for everyone.

Member Benefits Include:

Policy Briefings

Stay informed on Environment Agency, Natural England, and Defra water management planning, including the Broads Plan, Catchment Permit Reviews, the National Framework for Water Resources (2025), and the latest recommendations from the Independent Water Commission (Cunliffe Review).

Modelling & Analysis

  • How your abstraction affects the environment
  • Potential risks to your licence
  • Management options if challenges arise

Innovation & Collaboration

Benefit from pioneering approaches like smart farming and dynamic catchment management, and collaborate with other abstractor groups and initiatives such as Water For Food to influence sector-wide policy on sustainable water use.
